Answers to common bookkeeping questions.

Everything you need to know about working with Affluent Accounting. Don’t see your question? Just ask.

Getting started

Not at all. We’re based in West Palm Beach, FL, and work with businesses in every state. Everything happens securely online through QuickBooks Online, email and video calls.

Yes. You’ll have a dedicated bookkeeper who learns how your business works, so you’re never re-explaining things to someone new or waiting in a support queue.

We’ll talk for 15–30 minutes about your business, how your books are handled today, and what you need. If it’s a good fit, we’ll review your QuickBooks file and send a fixed-price proposal.

You invite us as an accountant user in QuickBooks Online, so you never share your password. Documents are exchanged through secure channels.

No. If you’re on QuickBooks Desktop, spreadsheets, or nothing at all, we’ll set up QuickBooks Online for you and get your books organized from day one.

Pricing is based on your transaction volume, number of accounts, and how much cleanup is needed. After a free consultation you’ll receive a clear, fixed quote, so there are no surprise hourly bills.

Bookkeeping cleanup

It depends on how many months need work and your transaction volume. A few months of catch-up can often be finished in one to two weeks, while multi-year cleanups take longer. You’ll get a timeline in your proposal before any work begins.

Cleanup is quoted as a fixed project fee based on the number of months, accounts and transactions. After reviewing your file, we’ll give you an upfront price, so there are no open-ended hourly bills.

Usually just accountant access to QuickBooks Online, bank and credit card statements for the cleanup period, and answers to questions about transactions we can’t identify. We’ll send a simple checklist.

Monthly bookkeeping

Transaction categorization, bank and credit card reconciliations, review of receivables and payables, and monthly financial statements (Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet), plus answers to your questions along the way.

Reports are delivered on a consistent schedule each month after the books are closed, so you can count on seeing your numbers at the same time every month.

No. Monthly bookkeeping is month-to-month. We’d rather earn your business every month than lock you in.

QuickBooks, payroll & sales tax

Yes. We’re QuickBooks Online Certified through Intuit’s ProAdvisor program at both Level 1 and Level 2 Advanced, so you get expert-level QuickBooks guidance.

Yes. We’ll help plan and complete the migration, then review the converted file to make sure balances and history came over correctly.

Yes. We help Florida businesses track sales tax correctly in QuickBooks and prepare recurring filings with the Florida Department of Revenue.

Yes. We help businesses across the USA with sales tax setup and recurring filings. Requirements vary by state, so we’ll review your situation during the consultation.

Taxes

We focus on bookkeeping and don’t prepare income tax returns. We deliver clean, tax-ready books to your CPA or tax preparer, which usually saves you money on their fees, too.

As early as possible. Ideally your books are cleaned up and closed for the year in January, giving your CPA plenty of time before business tax deadlines in March and April.
